We're very excited to welcome back our friends and welcome new participants to the therapeutic-social-pragmatics after school group! As we've learned from parents and care-givers, our program is vital for our kids with different abilities! Not all kids can go to the typical after school programs at the YMCA, Boys and Girls clubs, we're happy to offer this program to our friends who need additional support and specialized social/pragmatics and fine/gross motor activities that are adapted to accommodate their unique needs.

We have 2 sessions to offer this Fall (Starting 9/26/17)

Intake Form

Tuesdays and Thursdays: (Ages 4+) - 3:30 - 5:30PM - We're planning themed groups each week, practicing social/pragmatics skills, role-playing, using communication devices (symbols boards, talkers, etc.), turn-taking, self-regulation techniques, organized play activities, fine and gross motor activities and doing walks around the grounds and therapeutic horse back riding (for those interested).

Wednesdays and Fridays: (Ages 12+) - 3:30 - 5:30PM - We'll continue to have a theme each week, practice socialization/pragmatics, fine and gross motor skills, role-playing, use communication devices, BUT...we'll expand our skills to plan and participate in community outings - on Wednesdays will be the planning day and Fridays will be the "outing" day - how to schedule a PVTA, the steps needed to get on the bus, then go from Jericho to a site (mall, grocery store, pumpkin patch, etc.), asking for directions, learning landmarks, practicing safety awareness, etc., with the supervision and assistance of the leaders and volunteers in our group.
